Tom Bennett
I am an honours student in EEG (Evolution, Ecology and Genetics) for 2010.
My project will use phylogenetic methods to investigate the evolution of salt-tolerant plants, under the supervision of Lindell Bromham (ANU) and Tim Flowers (University of Sussex). I will focus on grasses (Poaceae), putting salt tolerance in an evolutionary context, and looking for traits or preconditions that might underlie the development of salt-tolerance. Hopefully all of this will end up having some sort of practical application one day!
